Hello worklifers,
I have enjoyed reading poetry and philosophy over the years. I am no expert but there is a short list of philosophers who have consistently befriended me over the years. A few on list include, Rumi, Marcus Aurelius, Kahlil Gibran.
There is much comfort and wisdom to be found in thoughts from these philosophers. Have you heard “Poetry can comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.”? Today, I want to offer some beautiful thoughts I had captured from the Essential Rumi book by Colman Barks last year.
Rumi: Try to be a sheet of paper within nothing on it; Be spot of ground where nothing is growing; where something may be planted a seed..
They say each day is a new beginning. What excites me about this thought that Rumi writes is that each new day offers us a new chance to think again. Imagine our minds at the beginning of the day as a blank sheet of paper. We have the choice every single day to reevaluate the thoughts that don’t serve us. We get to redefine what failure means to us. We get to sow and nurture and take massive actions from the new beliefs that serve us.
Rumi: Whatever I was looking for was always you.
We slow down our progress when we constantly seek validation from others. The indulgence in people pleasing takes away from truly enjoying ourselves and showing up as authentic leaders. The depth of love, compassion, and kindness we seek can be truly offered to others, if we first offer it to ourselves. We offer mindset coaching for reducing the urge to people please. We do so because we believe this is one of the biggest obstacles that keeps you from accelerating towards your goals.
Rumi: There is an original inside me. What’s here is a mirror for that; for you
It is easy to be you. There is only one original and that is you. Not just accepting who you are but celebrating your uniqueness is the secret to success. When you seek that original inside you can accelerate and grow your value from a place of abundance instead of scarcity. We coach on cultivating that abundant mindset within worklifeunstuck. We help you observe that abundance for time, money, and relationships are all constructs of the mind.
Rumi: The wound is the place where the light enters you
We all suffer and experience pain. This is part of the 50/50 human experience. However, when we choose to indulge in the thoughts that cause pain, it slows down our growth. It diminishes the value we create in the world. At worklifeunstuck we coach and equip you with the tools you need to master emotional management. Instead of choosing to indulge in your pain and suffering you learn to allow and feel it. You learn how to take all that frustration and convert it into a massive opportunity for yourself. You learn the art of pointing the torch inside your mind.
Rumi: An invisible bird flies over but casts a quick shadow. What is the body? The shadow of your love..
When you seek that emotional freedom you learn how to unconditionally love yourself. When you do that you can unconditionally love others. Not just you, even your shadow inspires others. This happens because you have within you what it takes to influence anyone. This power to influence comes in from your belief of self-confidence put into practice. Your self-confidence comes from learning to have your back, following through on your word, and not being afraid to feel. You remain on the flight like the bird while the value you offer keeps casting it shadow and warmth that continues to foster growth for you and others who seek you.
I hope these thoughts comfort you. I hope they provide wisdom, and I hope they help you understand the power of mindset coaching that we are offering with worklifeunstuck. To learn more reach out to me at [email protected]
